The Role of Recreation in Cancer Treatment.
Maintaining an active lifestyle when one has been diagnosed with cancer is of utmost importance. This is not only to maintain the spirits but also to keep the body as physically active as possible while undergoing treatment. The level of activity can be something as simple as walking around the block on a daily basis or more strenuous activities. The level of activity should be of course left up to the person in consultation with their physician or care-giver. Treatments for cancer can often times be debilitating (as in the case of chemotherapy) and at other times be fairly innocuous (as in the case of targeted radioactive therapy). Recreational and other physical activity should be included as any portion of a whole treatment program for cancer patients.
